Sunlight readable displays are in demand for a range of application in which displays, monitors and touch screens are used in direct sunlight. Sunlight readable monitors solve the problem of viewing the information on the screen without the glare from the sun interfering with the image. While there are numerous types of touch screens on the market, there are few sunlight readable touch screen types sold on the market today. We offer three sunlight readable touch screens, using infrared, resistive or surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology. Infrared screens use infrared, which is the same technology used in military display applications. SAW technology uses surface acoustic waves for operation of the touch screen.

The newer generation of resistive sunlight readable touch screens has been greatly improved to reduce glare and increase readability. Characteristics in resistive touch screens that make the technology effective for use in sunlight include low reflection on the surface of the screen, high light transmission, improved optical clarity of the image on the screen and a surface that is designed to resist fingerprints, which interfere with readability.
